Well I'm off to explore Limerick, visit a castle, the Hunt Museum and find me some traditional Irish grub!!
Hey Everyone- This is officially the first day of my trip and its starting in Limerick, Ireland. Right now I'm sitting in an internet cafe sending some emails and updating yours truly. Although my plane only landed 3 hours ago in Shannon, I can already tell that this place is a bit.... different. For one thing they drive on the wrong side of the road. And yes, I knew that before I came here, but you have got to see it to understand just how backwards it is. The bug to get from the plane to the terminal went through about 10 roundabouts and each time I was wincing because he went into them the wrong way!!!!

Hey Non-Existent Followers - So here it is the night before the big plane trans-Atlantic plane ride. In about 19 hours I will be somewhere over an ocean and in 24 I will be landing on foreign soil. It's both exciting and nerve-racking, seeing as how I've never travelled outside US borders before. I just finished packing up all my gear which came out to weigh 40 pounds. Add that to a 20 pound bike and that means I'm going to be lugging around 60 pounds plus water weight all over Europe. UGH!! :/
One of the things almost everyone I've talked to has said to me is be careful, take care of yourself and come back safe. It's as if there is some general fear amongst American's that Europe isn't a safe place. Not sure how true this is but regardless of it's potential validity I'm teeming with excitement for tomorrow! Wish me luck, send me suggestions of things to see and as always, KEEP RIDING!!! Hey Everyone- It's been awhile since I've posted anything but I'm starting to get back in the business of putting up daily entries. Just wanted to give everyone following me a quick update with how things stand for the trip right now. Finals at CNU (college) are almost over and May 18th, my date of departure to Ireland is fast approaching. Currently the countdown stands at 23 days till take-off but there is still plenty to do in between now and then. Until next time, keep riding.
This is the very start of my website/blog thats going to share with the world, or whoever is crazy enough to follow along, my cycling adventure across europe. The kind of things you'll find on this website are how I planned for the trip, how the trip is going, photos of where I go and just how much I really know, or don't know, about cycling. I hope you'll follow me in my 4,000 mile adventure.

The RiderI've been riding bikes with friends and family for my entire life and began distance riding with two of my best friends and my cycling "teacher." Together we formed a group called Team Pink Floyd and began to train for the Seagull Century, an annual 100 mile ride on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Although none of us made it the whole 100 miles that first time around, we learned enough to make us want to train harder and keep going. Over the years, the team drifted apart but I never forgot the freedom and passion I felt when I was riding and have kept at it to this very day. Archives
